Dr. Frank Bahners, LL.M.
Frank Bahners studied Law at the University of Bonn, and was admitted to the Bar in Düsseldorf in 2001. His postgraduate studies in the area of International Sports Law at the University of Chelmsford earned him the Master of Laws (LL.M.) in 2003, and he earned his doctorate at the University of Bonn from Professor Dr. Karsten Schmidt. In 2019 Frank Bahners was the first German Attorney who achieved the grade of an accredited specialist in sports law.
He has practiced as an attorney ever since. Frank Bahners specialises in the areas of Mergers & Acquisitions / Corporate Law as well as Sports Law. He has extensive experience in (international) business transactions and company mergers and acquisitions, from due diligence to negotiations, and drafting and closing of the contracts. His clients are private equity companies, companies and groups, as well as all kinds of strategic and financial investors. In addition, in cases of shareholder disputes, or disputes arising from a company purchase contract Frank Bahners also represents the interests of his client in court.
Furthermore, through his dissertation, his many years of consulting activities in this area, his Master of Law (LL.M.) as well as through the title of an accredited specialist in sports law, Frank Bahners is an established specialist in sports law. He advises sponsors, sport clubs, player agents and investors in the areas of sponsorship, investment contracts, transfers, and in association and contract law. Frank Bahners is a member of the International Sport Lawyers Association (ISLA), founding member of the section for sports law in the German Attorneys Association, and regularly publishes and lectures in the area of sports law. Furthermore, Frank Bahners is president of the pre-examination committee of the Duesseldorf bar association for awarding the grade of an accredited specialist in sports law.
Frank Bahners started his career at KPMG Beiten Burkhardt, and was later a partner of the law firm Peters Rechtsanwälte, before he became a partner and managing director at QUANTUM in 2014.
